Voice Juries

Wednesday, January 3, 2018 by Brian Glosh | Uncategorized

Dear Parents and Singers,

The holiday season is still upon us, but the voice faculty are looking forward to 2018 and mid-year voice juries. Juries are a performance of the songs you've been preparing in voice lessons, and must be completed by all choristers except 12th grade girls. For the mid-year jury, you will perform TWO selections, and it is strongly encouraged that you memorize your music. The mid-year juries are open to parents if you would like to attend.

LOCATION and DATE:

Boys will perform their juries on Friday, January 12 immediately after school in the St. Albans Upper School Choir Room. Mr. Straley will accompany.

Girls will perform their juries on Saturday, January 13th at 9:30am in the NCS Hearst Auditorium. Ms. Suter will accompany.

Rehearsal time will be available with both accompanists in the days leading up to juries. Please be aware that due to the irregularity of the STA and NCS schedules, it is likely you will only have one voice lesson before juries after you return from the holiday break, so you must prepare on your own over the holiday. Senior girls, we realize that you will not be in rehearsals during exam week, and the voice teachers will make plenty of time available that week so that you can schedule a lesson at your convenience between your exams.

A note on grades: Your actual performance in the jury itself will not be graded, but your preparation for the jury is. Please be diligent in your memorization and focused practice.

Please be in touch with questions - if you have concerns, we would love to address them before Christmas break so that we can return from break ready to go.

Many thanks for your work and support, and happiest of holidays to you all.

Yours,

Ms. Mondel and Ms. Stuart
