Mozart Requiem Orchestra Homestays

Wednesday, February 24, 2016 by Brian Glosh | Full Choir

Good afternoon, In only a month we will be gathering our fabulous musical forces together on the large platform Palm Sunday to present Mozart's Requiem. I personally cannot wait to see and hear our choristers and men singing this and also Bach's beautiful Jesu Meine Freude.

I come to you today in need of help for housing several of our out of town orchestra members. They would be arriving on Friday, March 18 after the 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm rehearsal and departing Sunday, March 20 by 2:00 pm for their call at the Cathedral. In return for your gracious hospitality, you would receive two complimentary tickets to the concert as a small token of appreciation.

If you are able to host, please do not reply to this email, but contact me at scaracciolo@cathedral.org or call me at 202-537-6216. When you reply, let me know how many you can host and also if you have any pets as we have a couple members who are allergic to cats.

Thank you kindly for your consideration, Sandy

Head Chorister Graduation and Installment

Friday, February 19, 2016 by Brian Glosh | Full Choir

We would like to thank Benjamin Vacher for his outstanding leadership and dedicated service to this Cathedral!  Benjamin graduated from the Cathedral Choir on February 18th during Thursday night evensong.  His exemplary beahvior and attitude will be a model for many Head Choristers to follow.  We will miss you!

Speaking of new Head Choristers, Everett Davis and Samuel Dereje were also installed as our new Head Choristers on the same day.  Both young men have shown the maturity and skill required to lead this choir and provide even more great examples of leadership and dedication.  Congratulations!

Boys Announcements

Monday, February 1, 2016 by Brian Glosh | Full Boys

Hello Parents,

Yesterday's Evensong was spectacular, as 120 Choristers from across the D.C. Diocese joined the Cathedral Boys for evensong.  If you would like to see photos, there are some posted on the Choristers Facebook page and on our new website.  This has been an annual event, but the Cathedral has never hosted it.  Hopefully we can continue to do this in the future and bring in Choristers from not only this area, but across the nation!

I would like to apologize for the snack confusion!  This is a very important part of the boy's afternoon and our drop-off procedures have been less than consistent.  The addition of the new Beauvoir class is exciting, but gave us more schedule mix-ups than expected.  If it is OK with Kris, our superb snack coordinator, I would like to provide snacks for the boys this week as an apology and a thank you for everyone's flexibility and support.

Schedule

Summer Dates: The choristers will have no obligation during the two weeks following school.  These dates are June 5th through June 18th.  Enjoy the summer!

Choir Camp: Choir camp dates for August 2016 are Thursday, August 25th through Wednesday, August 31st.  Because of schedule with Roslyn we needed to leave at a different time during the week.  This may give us the opportunity to not only sing a concert, but to provide service music while we are in Richmond!
